Efficiency

Energy, Air & Water Conservation

Three Rivers Convention Center was built with efficiency in mind. Smart systems, natural lighting, and modern controls help us reduce environmental impact without sacrificing comfort.

  • Programmable HVAC zones and motion-activated lighting reduce energy use by 40%, saving over $100,000 annually.

  • Benton PUD energy audits guide long-term efficiency updates.

  • LED lighting and expansive natural daylight reduce electrical demand.

  • Automatic doors help maintain indoor temperature and prevent heat/cooling loss.

  • Air quality monitoring, high-efficiency ventilation, and low-VOC paints, carpets, and adhesives support a healthy indoor environment.

  • Low-flow and waterless fixtures, plus water served by request, help conserve water.

Operations

Waste Reduction, Catering & Cleaning Practices

Daily operations across the campus support long-term sustainability. From recycling to food service, we focus on practical steps that reduce waste and support local suppliers.

Waste & Materials

  • Recycling partnership with Basin Disposal Inc. for paper, plastic, aluminum, cardboard, and pallets.

  • 75% of construction debris recycled or salvaged; 50% of materials sourced within 500 miles.

  • Products purchased in bulk with recyclable or recycled packaging.

  • Equipment sharing with Toyota Center and Toyota Arena minimizes waste.

Food & Beverage

  • Ingredients sourced locally whenever possible.

  • Reusable china, silverware, linens, and bulk condiments reduce single-use waste.

  • Filtered water systems support bottle-free service.

  • Excess prepared food is donated to local shelters.

Paper & Cleaning

  • LCD monitors replace printed signage; menus and planning guides are online.

  • Paperless ticketing and registration systems reduce printing.

  • Green cleaning policy: EPA- and Green Seal–approved products, reusable cloths, and low-VOC agents.
